I looked extremely hard for an alternative to this yarn because I could not find this yarn in any store that I tried. I first tried several different types and brands of yarn. Sadly, all the other yarn that I tried did not result in the style or flexibility of the blanket as it was featured by Patons, nor was it as fluffy as one would expect.
After several different yarn brands and variations, I did end up giving in and ordering the 6-pack bulk buy from Amazon (it also has 4 color options). I was only hesitant originally because I thought I could get a better price for an equivalent and I did not think I needed 6 skeins. It turns out that I wasted more money and time trying other yarns. After the first few rounds, I was extremely happy I bought the recommended yarn. I like it so much, I don’t mind that I had a little extra. If I had more time I would have continued and made the blanket using all of the yarn.
With other yarns, the blanket felt stiff and flat. With this Paton’s yarn, I was able to create the perfect fluffy, frilly, elegant and girly blanket. I was extremely pleased with this particular yarn for this project. If you are going to make the “Fluffy Meringue Blanket” by Patons, definitely go with their yarn!
